Quick Rename from Finder or File Explorer

Quick Rename processes selected files using your current Smart Rename settings and AI mode. Use it for a few files when you have already tested the naming setup.

  1. Open Templates → Smart Rename and check the Naming Blocks, language, and metadata settings.
  2. Choose the AI mode you want to use.
  3. Test those settings on a small batch in AI Rename.

Quick Rename uses the default Smart Rename setup, rather than the Template selected for a separate manual batch.

Select supported files in Finder, open the context menu, and choose Rename with Zush. Depending on your Finder menu, the action may be under Services.

To use a keyboard shortcut:

  1. Open Zush Settings and find Quick Rename.
  2. Turn on Enable Shortcut and choose the shortcut.
  3. Select files in Finder and press the shortcut.
  4. Check the renamed files or open Activity to inspect the results.

The direct-download app reads your Finder selection; allow access to Finder if macOS asks. The Mac App Store app opens a file picker instead, where you select the files to rename.

  1. Open Preferences and find Quick Rename Shortcut.
  2. Enable the shortcut and use the shortcut button to change it if needed.
  3. Select supported files in File Explorer and press the shortcut.
  4. Wait for processing, then inspect the names in File Explorer or Activity.

Windows Quick Rename processes up to 10 supported files from the selection per invocation. Use AI Rename for a larger batch.

  • Keep Zush running and make sure an AI mode is enabled.
  • Select files, rather than a folder, and check format support.
  • Check the connection for your selected AI mode and your remaining free allowance.
  • On Mac, use the file picker when running the App Store version’s shortcut.

To restore a processed file, use Undo in Activity.
