Describe your folders once, then let Zush file everything

Zush sorts by what a file contains, not by its extension. Write Folder rules the way you would brief an assistant, or leave them empty for Auto. Zush analyzes each file, proposes a filename and a folder, and waits for your review before anything moves.

Open AI Rename, choose a Template for the filenames, and pick a destination with the folder control below the Naming Blocks. Keep the original location if the folders should be created next to the files.
Turn on Sort. Write a rule such as “Group invoices by company and receipts by month, name month folders YYYY-MM,” or leave Folder rules empty for Auto. Turn on Reuse existing folders to file into folders you already have.
Add a small batch, review the proposed names and groups, rename a folder or move a file if needed, then apply. Save the setup in a Template and assign it to Monitor to sort new files automatically.

Folder sorting is in beta. It moves files, so test on a copy first and keep it off for folders that other apps reference by path. Rules work best when the answer is visible in the file, such as a company name, date, or subject. Files that fit no folder are renamed without being grouped.

Can I tell Zush how to sort my files in my own words?

Yes. Write Folder rules in plain language, up to 2,000 characters, for example “Group invoices by company and receipts by month, name month folders YYYY-MM.” Leave the field empty to use Auto, which groups files by content into a few broad, reusable folders. No conditions, regex, or scripts are needed.

Does Zush sort files into folders that already exist?

Yes. With Reuse existing folders turned on, Zush matches files to suitable folders already inside the destination and creates a new folder only when nothing fits. Files that fit no folder are renamed without being grouped.

Can Zush sort new files automatically as they arrive?

Yes. Save the destination and Folder rules in a Template and assign it to a monitored folder such as Downloads or a scanner folder. New files directly inside that folder are renamed and sorted, and Monitor keeps reusing the folders it created earlier.

Does AI folder sorting work on Windows?

Yes. Zush for Windows 10 and 11 has the same Destination folder, Folder sorting, Reuse existing folders, and Folder rules settings as the Mac app. Templates exported on one platform import on the other; you pick the destination folder again on the new computer.

Can I sort files into folders offline?

Yes. With LM Studio or Ollama selected, both file analysis and folder planning run on your computer. Zush does not switch to cloud AI while a local mode is selected. Cloud AI and your own API key (BYOK) are also available.

Is it safe to let AI move my files?

Zush shows every proposed filename and folder before anything moves. You can rename a proposed folder, move a file to another group, or turn sorting off for the batch. Test on a small copy of the folder first, and keep sorting off for folders that other apps link to by path.

How much does the AI file sorter cost?

Folder sorting is part of Zush. The first 50 AI renames are free. PRO costs $10 per month or $48 one-time and has no monthly file meter, including with the managed Zush Cloud AI.
