Do scanned PDFs need an OCR text layer first?

No. When a PDF is a page image with no selectable text, Zush falls back to AI vision that reads the page image directly. Scans from ScanSnap, Brother, Epson, Canon, and HP scanners work without a separate OCR pass.

Can Zush watch my scanner folder and rename new scans as they arrive?

Yes. Assign a Template to the folder your scanner saves into, and Zush renames each new Scan0001.pdf as it lands — the same convention every time, with rename history so any batch can be reverted.

What about sensitive scans like medical or financial documents?

Zush supports private modes: BYOK sends analysis to your own API account, and Offline AI mode uses local Ollama models so supported files never leave the machine. Filenames and folder structures always stay local.
